"THE SEA, OUR ONLY ADDICTION"
A drug use prevention campaign

JUSTIFICATION OF THE PROJECT:
Both state authorities and civil society in Romania are concerned about young people's tendency to abuse alcohol and tobacco during their holiday and about the fact that, unsupervised by their parents, they are tempted to try illegal drugs.
The analysis of this issue has revealed that holidays are a unique opportunity to approach a large number of youngsters when they have time and are willing to talk to people their age about drugs and other related topics.
NOVELTIES:
- it is the first campaign involving volunteers
- it covers all seaside resorts
- it addresses especially young people aged 15-25
- the project was created according to an European project on drug use prevention
PURPOSE OF THE PROJECT:
The purpose of the campaign is to prevent and reduce drug use among young people who spend their holiday at the seaside by informing them and increasing their awareness on short and long term negative effects of drug use.
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
"To increase the level of information and the awareness of the young people aged 15-25 on short and long term negative effects of drug use";
"To promote healthy leisure time alternatives to drug and alcohol use".
TARGET GROUP: teenagers and youth (15-25 years old) who spend their holiday at the seaside (Mamaia, Constanta, Eforie, Costinesti, Neptun, Olimp, Saturn, Jupiter, Venus, Mangalia and Vama Veche)
